"He said I confess that I doubt. I want the truth and have no desire to whisper prayerfully into a hole. So, neither believing nor disbelieving, I wrap myself in uncertainty and go out to build my world."
-Gary Witt
About Me
Astrophysicist-in-training with a special interest in machine learning and AI applications
I am currently a student at Santa Monica College. I've had the honor of researching gravitational waves with LIGO, where I learned how to navigate the ups and downs of research and carve my own path in the field. My work there sparked a passion for machine learning, leading me to UCLA's Break Through in Tech AI fellowship. Here I've gained hands-on experience with the end-to-end machine learning workflow, successfully building high performance models on real-world datasets. I'm also dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM, which has inpsired my work with organizations dedicated to uplifiting minorities in the field. In my free time, I enjoy practicing Buddhist-based mindfulness, playing cozy games, and hanging out with my pug and three sassy torties.
Projects and Papers
Worked on improving detection methods for gravitationally-lensed gravitational waves in the GstLAL search pipeline. This was done by implementing Bayesian methods to better distinguish signal from noise using the relevant parameters' combined likelihood ratio.
